Stillwater and Mendota, Minnesota!

Lord have mercy. From five days in Windsor to two in Minnesota. Fly into St. Paul Minneapolis International airport pretty late....jump into my rental car and head over to the hotel for some greatly needed rest. I've got a confirmation retreat at St. Michael's in Stillwater...St. Croix Valley Faith Formation is a group of parishes joining resources to make a difference in the lives of young people. Mary McLaren has invited me to speak to a huge number of high school students preparing for...
confirmation. The day will have four sessions, reconciliation, celebration of mass, and dinner, ending with a concert. Annie is the brand new youth minister for the community and she jumps right in and takes the bull by the horns right away....the day moves fast and before you know it, I'm packing up my gear and jumping in my car to head back to the hotel....what a blur!
The very next morning I've got to drive back to Stillwater and pick up my glucometer that I left on the piano when I was playing during reconciliation. Yikes. Then I head in the direction of Mendota, trying to make my way to St. Peter's Church. Tons of rain coming down. I try to not get too lost and end up in Wyoming. Which wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have a full day of work in Mendota. I arrive at the Church and Nancy Hochschild is waiting for me out front. Brandon, the brave, helps me unload my car and in no time at all I am scrambling to get ready for mass. I'm playing at two masses in the morning. Jean the Hospitable and Gifted, along with Pancho, El Maestro, set my microphone and guitar up for me. I sing GLORY TO GOD MOST HIGH (Misa del Mundo) as a call to worship or sorts. During communion, I lead the assembly in OPEN MY EYES. I miss playing music at mass on a regular basis. Right after mass, a bite to eat and then right into a gathering for everyone, breaking up into a gathering for adults and a gathering for children; then a session for high school teens, dinner and then a closing concert! Somebody smack me! No worries, I get to meet the great leaders of the Church, Sully, Grace, Matthew, Sarah, Courtney, and tons more! Nancy is a great presence with her teens and is obviously loved! Wonderful spending some quality time in the land of 10,000 lakes (and much more!). Got to see Bill and Jo Casey....shared some time with Bill....back to the hotel late...7AM flight back to DFW and the arms of Jodi and the girls. Happiness....
