Last Tour of the Year - Part Two, Huntingtown, MD

To a plane to Baltimore the next morning at 7AM from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Caught a cab and boy, was it heavy...heh, heh, heh....landed in Baltimore around 2PM. Tracey Smith, from Jesus, Divine Word, in the town of Huntingtown, met me at baggage and we drove to Fr. Dan's house for some grazing. I saw my friend Maddie, met new friends, Grace and Rose, Allie and Tony, Joe and Joan, along with some other folks. Spent about an hour or so with the youth group that night. Super exhausted, but made some connections with the young church. Major connections. Blame it on the Holy Spirit...
I attend mass the following morning; afterwards hang out with the pre-schoolers and a few elders of the church. It was wild, wooly, and wemarkable. Went back to the hotel, er, uh, the Chesapeake Beach Hotel and Spa....ahem....made calls, worked online and got some rest for the evening. The evening program never arrived--we got snow! And really, the tough stuff...ICE!
So no Monday evening program. Tuesday and Wednesday, YES. Talked of Reconciliation and Eucharist; encouraged folks to stay open to being open; I deputized the assembly to share the experience of the evenings....another gathering of the whole parish, the youngest to the eldest. Wow. Hung out with Tracey and Joe, Maddie, Rocco, Ricky, Tara, Brendan, I forgot Rocco's mom's name! Dude, I'm lame. Did the last evening...Fr. Dan must have heard 20,000 confessions during Tuesday and Wednesday evening. The cat was cooly, calmly, and collectedly, being the confessor of the confessing. Dude.
Love to Fr. Dan, Tracey and Joe Smith, my friend Jenna, and all the beloved of Jesus, Divine Word.
Keep the mission moving!
Back to the hotel. Awake at 3:30AM for a 4AM shuttle ride to the airport....departing Baltimore at 6:39AM and arrive in DFW by 9:30AM....home, sweet home.
By the way, Gene Monterastelli, my friend, collegue, and also, doctor, drove down from Baltimore to visit me. We talked, went fishing, did 500 sit-ups each, ate food, did an interview with ESPN on how he and I ran the Iceland 5000 marathon, with me actually riding the Icelandic Horse as Gene ran. We've got skills.
Wait, most of that was my imagination. Gene did drive down from Baltimore, we shared a meal, some conversation, and pretty much supported each other. You know how folks in athletics have supporters? Well, we itinerants are like spiritual supporters for one another.
